Unsurfed Afghanistan

The Peace and Sports Council of Afghanistan (PSC) embarked on an unprecedented initiative to introduce surfing to Afghanistan. In partnership with the Wave Riders Association of Afghanistan (WRAA) and Surf Anywhere organization, PSC launched a groundbreaking project in Panjshir. This collaboration was not only a first in Afghanistan’s history but also a symbol of innovation and progress in sports.

During the two-week event in Panjshir, PSC provided support and facilitated the planning and execution of the surfing campaign. The initial enthusiasm for the project laid the groundwork for ambitious plans to start surfing training within two years. Unfortunately, the subsequent fall of Kabul to the Taliban halted these groundbreaking efforts, leaving a significant mark on what could have been a new era of sports and cultural exchange in Afghanistan.
