Peace and Sport Council of Afghanistan Awards 2025 Peace Prize to Mr. Naseer Ahmad Faiq
The Peace and Sport Council of Afghanistan is proud to announce that Mr. Naseer Ahmad Faiq has been awarded the 2025 Peace Prize in recognition of his outstanding dedication to diplomacy, human rights, and the peaceful representation of Afghanistan on the international stage.
Mr. Faiq has served as the Chargé d’Affaires of the Permanent Mission of Afghanistan to the United Nations since December 16, 2021, following the Taliban takeover. As the sole recognized representative of Afghanistan at the UN, he has steadfastly advocated for the rights and aspirations of the Afghanistan people. His work focuses on promoting an inclusive government grounded in justice, the rule of law, and respect for fundamental freedoms.
Joining the Permanent Mission in 2019 Mr. Faiq oversaw political affairs and United Nations Security Council matters. With nearly twenty years of diplomatic service, he has earned broad respect for his professionalism, independence, and unwavering commitment to human rights especially the rights of women, girls, and minority communities.
Mr. Faiq began his diplomatic career in 2005 at Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he served in several key roles. His positions included Acting Chief of Staff to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Director General of Regional Cooperation (twice), and multiple postings as a diplomat at Afghanistan’s Permanent Mission to the UN in New York.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Administration and Diplomacy from Kabul University (2005) and a master’s degree in Administration, International Relations, and Diplomacy from Fairleigh Dickinson University (2010).
