Peace and Sport Council of Afghanistan Awards 2025 Peace Prize to Eng. Fawad Nadri
The Peace and Sport Council of Afghanistan has announced Eng. Fawad Nadri as the recipient of the 2025 Afghanistan Peace Prize, recognizing his long standing contributions to international cooperation, economic development, and peaceful engagement between nations.
Eng. Fawad Nadri, the Czech Republic Representative of the Council, is a distinguished professional in international commerce and trade relations. As Vice President and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Czecho-Slovakia-Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce, he has played a pivotal role in strengthening diplomatic and business ties. His leadership as President of Excalibur International a.s. and the Czech-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce further reflects his dedication to advancing economic cooperation, strategic partnership, and global understanding.
Born in Kabul on July 10, 1968, Nadri grew up in a respected middle-class family. His father, originally engaged in the carpet industry, later served as the director of a state enterprise during the Soviet era. Nadri completed high school in 1985 and, under a government scholarship program, traveled to Czechoslovakia later that year. After a language course in Dobruška, he studied at the Institute of Tropics and Subtropics at the University of Agriculture in Prague, graduating in 1992.
Following the Velvet Revolution, he remained in Czechoslovakia and began building a remarkable career in business, initially focusing on leather and textile imports before expanding into broader international trade. In 2005, during the coalition’s Operation Enduring Freedom—an effort supported by the Czech Army Nadri founded the Czech-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce to promote economic cooperation and reconstruction efforts. Among its notable initiatives was a specialized training program that brought Afghanistan pilots and military technicians to Hradec Králové for advanced training.
His ongoing work later contributed to the establishment of the Czech-Slovak-Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce, through which he continued to promote economic development and intercultural dialogue. Nadri made several return visits to Afghanistan in connection with these initiatives, the most recent in July 2021, shortly before the Taliban takeover.
Eng. Nadri is widely respected for his strategic vision, diplomatic skill, and commitment to fostering peaceful collaboration through trade and education. He resides in Prague with his wife and two children.
The Peace and Sport Council of Afghanistan extends its warmest congratulations to Eng. Fawad Nadri for his outstanding achievements and his unwavering dedication to peace, cooperation, and the prosperity of the Afghanistan people. This award honors not only his past contributions but also his enduring legacy as a bridge between nations.
