Peace and Sport Council of Afghanistan Awards 2025 Peace Prize to Bahram Aman
The Peace and Sport Council of Afghanistan has named Bahram Aman as the recipient of its 2025 Peace Prize, recognizing his exceptional courage, professional integrity, and unwavering commitment to accountability journalism during one of the most challenging media environments in Afghanistan’s recent history.
Aman, now a leading news presenter for Afghanistan International, previously worked with TOLOnews for one year under Taliban rule. Throughout this period, he hosted several political and current affairs programs featuring Taliban officials, consistently pressing them with bold, critical, and fact-based questions. His work reflected a deep commitment to transparency and public accountability, even when doing so carried serious personal risks.
In 2021, Aman was arrested by the Taliban due to his uncompromising approach to questioning authority. Despite intimidation and threats, he continued to uphold the core principles of journalism truth, fairness, and responsibility earning widespread respect from audiences inside and outside Afghanistan.
Aman’s journalistic style is marked by his determination to represent the concerns of the public, challenge those in power, and ensure that the realities faced by the people of Afghanistan are brought to light. His work has placed him among the most influential and principled journalists from Afghanistan today.
